The answer is simple, No. The explanation is not as simple, there are several legitimate reasons why the other bed liners offer better protection. Bed Rug bed liners are typically used in trucks that the owner uses more like the trunk of a car. The reason is obvious, even with a layer of carpet on it, the rug type bedliner is not as thick as many other types of bed liner. I would not recommend hauling rocks or boulders in a truck that has a bed rug installed, it literally provides little or no protection against dent. These rug type bed liners are held in place with double sided sticky tape, If you haul large items in your truck then I would not recommend it. What happens when you unload your cargo is, the entire bed liner tries to come out too. This compromises the double stick tape, when the stick tape looses its stickiness you just may end up walking along the interstate thinking where is my bed liner and how far did it fly?
The Bed Rugs installation process is much more difficult than any other self install bed liner. It requires several precise measurements and markings not to mention the cuts for things like tie-down or cargo holds. The pieces are Zippered together, with what I found to be very cheap and difficult to use (i would have expected them to use a commercial grade Zipper at least). After a year or two of use I cant imagine that they will still work. Anyways, the true test was to use the bed rug and do some normal transporting of a few items. First a dining room table we slid the table in on its face, so it wouldn’t be top heavy and fall out. What happened was the table slid back and forth and side to side bumping into each of the sidewalls and tailgate. Thank goodness this table was already pretty beat up. The next item we moved was a table saw, the base was metal and it was kind of pointy. The table saw also traveled around on the bed, scratching right through the bed liner leaving white marks on the trucks finish. Because of the saw was sliding around it also pulled up the tape on the floor and on part of the sidewalls. This was all the proof that I needed to show the lack of protection.
For true truck protection I have found a bed liner that offers the most. No other bed liner came even close to the level of protection the Dual Liner provides. It is a five piece kit and it ships in a box right to your door. It installs in minutes, and actually preserves the condition of your trucks bed. Dual Liner uses dual technologies to achieve the highest level of truck paint protection, the highest level of dent protection and the highest level of cargo protection in the industry. If you are looking for serious protection that will last then the Dual Liner is the bed liner for you.
